In a city where kitsch and kings reign, it’s only fitting that a former beauty shop where Priscilla Presley reportedly got her beehive dos done is now a very stylish and popular restaurant. Despite the creative and clever use of recycled décor (’50s domed hair dryer chairs are seats of choice and shampooing sinks now ice down beer) The Beauty Shop is glamorous and very metro—and the globally inspired food is central here. Appetizers such as pears and cheese, or watermelon and jerk chicken wings are interesting taste teasers; for entrees, try the Thai Cobb salad, whole striped bass, crispy duck, pomegranate vinaigrette and panzenella salad, or the BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado sandwich). And desserts are worth the indulgence, especially the popular caramel cake with coffee gelato.
