The balcony of the Lorraine Motel is etched in the memory of most people of a certain age who watched the television reports of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. there in 1968. A faded floral wreath marks the spot where he stood when fatally shot. It’s a sobering sight but the museum is more than a memorial to Dr. King. In photos, documents and descriptions, it puts a human face on the major events of the civil rights movement.
